WHAT IS YOGA ?

Yoga is the beautiful Practice of infusing Breath energy into the body, awaken our Chakras, heal our body from the core, and maintain youthfulness, If approached in the right mannerist is one of the best tools to invite Joy and Vitality into our lives. 

HOW MANY HOURS OF YOGA DO WE NEED?


Most of the present day yoga lovers attempt an hour or two of practice per week in a classroom setting. In a fast paced present day life, this is an excellent way to break the cycle of day to day STRESS. However, with time, we start equating this with our exercise routine.... quite right if we look at the surface!!

Lets take a DEEP BREATH and allow few moments to ponder...

Yoga is a LIFESTYLE PROJECTED from what you PRACTICE on the mat.

The more you REFLECT, your ATTITUDE towards life evolves, making you more PEACEFUL. You learn to respond to the CHALLENGES rather than reacting. The meditations give you an insight about what you need to PROIRTIZE; what to work at and what to ACCEPT as it is.

As we practice certain Yogic sequences regularly, not only do we shed the extra weight, but also curb the appetite with the breathing practices. So, if you have already experienced the rebound increase in weight after your exercise or dieting regimes, Yoga has all the answers you are looking for!! 

AM I HUNGRY??

The last few years on following YOGIC DISCIPLINES, I was working on my food habits. Probably I was eating too much, may be the habit started being in an adrenaline-emotive-adventure styled job.....

and, may be, I need it then.

Back to present times, every time I think of eating, I watch myself- 

Who is calling??

My greedy mind

or

A genuine appetite

Guess what? I discovered that we don't allow ourselves to be actually hungry; just running it like clock work, eating just because its our habit of eating at that hour.

As they say in yogic lifestyle, "we only need food once a day."

Lets work at it slow and steady.


I HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES/CANT SIT ON THE FLOOR? AM I FIT FOR YOGA?

The practices for the elderly are more suited to their abilities and special needs; during the class we might be focusing more on chair yoga and meditations if that is required. Yoga can have a magical effect on our own sense of existence and overall wellbeing. Most of my elderly clients cherish the interactions we have during the class.

All the clients have reported improved mobility in a couple of weeks and few have them have even started sitting on the floor.

I ALWAYS FEEL OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING BETTER THAN ME, IT MAKES ME VERY ANXIOUS.

Do not try to compare with what others are doing, compare your progress to your own baseline. Try to follow instructions attentively, even if you are not able to attempt, just try it to your own degree. It will definitely come with practice. 

I AM TOO STIFF TO SIT ON THE FLOOR; I AM AFRAID THAT I WONT BE ABLE TO DO YOGA.

Smile is one of the biggest tools which brings our awareness back into the body. Its quite difficult for the mind to wander as you hold a smiling expression; moreover it keeps you grounded and stabilises your emotional quotient.

A lot of mental and physical health issues arise due to the simple reason that we never declutter the mind; it's this pain in the mind that contributes to various common diseases. If we have a regular routine of asanas something that can make us sweat, help us detoxify our body and improve body 's circulation, make our minds receptive to being in balanced meditative state, nothing can replace it! So, in simple words, Yoga opens up a doorway to the mind and makes it more accessible for cleansing

HOW DOES YOGA HELP WOMEN??

Yoga is an integral component of self care when it comes to women. The hormonal changes the occur within the body with every monthly cycle pose enough challenge and this peaks during the menarche and menopause when the body remoulds itself in more than one way. The process of childbirth is another integral component of these emotional, physical and mental challenges. This is added on by the daily stressors of life, innate tendency to overwork making you lose your own self in the work life balance.

 Despite being a difficult path, womanhood is very satisfying, probably this is what makes us happy from inside. At the same time it is important to understand that motherhood is like a trunk of the tree which holds everything in place. Therefore, it is very important to spare time for your own self and keep the trunk healthy to be able to nuture the branches and the fruits really well. 

I find working with women quite satisfying because women are blessed with more intense inclination to spirituality, which makes them blend easily to this beautiful path of evolving our own selves. Also, they have the ability to lead the families and invite their loved ones to join this in this beautiful journey.
